This is serious. Some vehicles will disable even the MANUAL door locks if the key remote is damaged and sets the locks and alarm while you are inside the vehicle. It will not crank, the windows will not roll down, and the doors cannot be unlocked remotely, or manually. Landrover Discovery is such a vehicle. Trust me, I learned this the hard way... just today. If you even suspect that your remote is damaged or has gotten wet, do not trust it to function properly no matter how normal it may seem. Particularly in hot summer months, this could be deadly for yourself, and especially for young children. While police and others are laughing off the issue, and talking about Family Guy episodes, you will be baking inside your car. Enough said.

At first, I laughed and wondered if this woman was on meds. Then I realized just how easily this could happen again. When panic sets in, you return to what you know. This can easily happen again to the next person who is so accustomed to "automatic-everything" that they forget about physical controls! (Count me in that group; I'm guilty as charged. )
